Bates College Homework Help Program Coordinator

Come to Maine and experience the natural beauty and exciting outdoor opportunities provided by its distinct four seasons! Maine Campus Compact (MCC) is a statewide coalition of colleges and universities whose purpose is to further the public purposes and civic mission of higher education. MCC's team of 8 VISTAs will all develop or coordinate programming that mobilizes college students to increase college aspirations in Maine's K-12 youth. Working with Bates Office of Intercultural Education, the VISTA will coordinate a homework help program at the Lewiston Public Library, which serves an average of 50 youth a day. College students from four campuses in Lewiston-Auburn support the youth in the program, many of whom are African immigrants and refugees. In addition to recruiting diverse student volunteers, the VISTA will also recruit students to serve as mentors and create mentoring activities for the mentor pairs. Please follow the application instructions posted at http://www.mainecompact.org/vista-join.php
