*Goodwill*Monadnock Regional School District ACES-Swanzey NH

Goodwill places AmeriCorps members in schools and nonprofits to increase student engagement through targeted mentoring of students that face significant challenges and need additional interventions to succeed in school and life. Members utilize the Check and Connect mentoring model supporting students through: 1) Weekly one-on-one check-ins with 15-25 students. 2) Weekly Monitoring Forms, gathering behavioral and school data. 3) Connecting students to needed interventions. 4) Connecting with families. Member support is provided through mentoring, academic support, service learning, additional interventions, and/or planning for or recruiting volunteers to support these activities. Check and Connect is a research proven model created by the University of Minnesota, proven to increase academic engagement, decrease absences and tardiness, and improve persistence in students who are disengaged or at risk of dropout. Additional information can be found at http://checkandconnect.umn.edu/. ACES 93… fun for kids and peace of mind for parents! All Children Educated Safely in SAU #93 (ACES 93) prides itself on providing out-of-school time services for students and their families in the Monadnock District’s five elementary and one regional middle school. ACES 93 programming takes place before and after school, as well as during school vacations, and is designed to broaden participants’ experiences, improving their academic, social, emotional, and physical well-being. Priorities include creating a safe and engaging environment for children and their families. ACES 93 strives to form partnerships with each school, community, and family in order to provide the most effective academic enrichment, physical fitness, nutritional and life-skill programs for its participants. Above all, the program challenges children to learn while having fun! The member will be working at the ACES #93 - Monadnock Regional Middle School Site.
