*Goodwill*Monadnock Regional School District ACES-Swanzey NH
Granite State Education Corps Overview: Granite State places members in schools and non-profits throughout the state of New Hampshire, in both rural and urban communities in order to increase student engagement. Members will implement the Check & Connect mentoring program (a research-based intervention for academically disengaged K-12 students) in nonprofits and schools. In addition, AmeriCorps members will leverage volunteers to engage in Check & Connect mentoring and in-school/afterschool service-learning, academic support, parental engagement, and enrichment interventions. Host Site Overview: ACES 93… fun for kids and peace of mind for parents! All Children Educated Safely in SAU #93 (ACES 93) prides itself on providing out-of-school time services for students and their families in the Monadnock Regional School District’s five elementary and one regional middle school. ACES 93 programming takes place before and after school, as well as during school vacations, and is designed to broaden participants’ experiences, improving their academic, social, emotional, and physical well being. Highest priorities include creating a safe and engaging environment for children and their families. ACES 93 strives to form partnerships with each school, community, and family in order to provide the most effective academic enrichment, physical fitness, nutritional and life-skill programs for its participants. Above all, the program challenges children to learn while having fun! The member will be working at the ACES #93 - Monadnock Regional Middle School Site. Current partners for the program include: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western NH, Monadnock Alcohol & Drug Abuse Coalition, and Town of Swanzey-Recreation.
