AmeriCorps members in these full and P/T positions in Central and South FL will provide disaster preparedness, response and recovery including community outreach and disaster casework. Direct and follow-up casework to active duty military, their families and veterans will be provided. Members will become Leaders in Citizens CPR and participate in multi-sector whole community health and disaster education activities. Program seeks to utilize and develop skills of youth, seniors, veterans and the diverse populations in the following FL cities and surrounding areas: Ft. Myers, Naples, Orlando, Winter Haven, Palm Beach, St. Lucie, Lecanto, Daytona Beach, Rockledge, Miami-Dade, and Ft. Lauderdale. A) Service to Armed Forces Outreach will mentor and assist veterans, active service members and their families with financial, education and employment resources. Surveys will measure client satisfaction. B) Disaster Outreach includes educating communities and at-risk populations on how to prepare, prevent and respond to emergencies. Disaster response and recovery includes emergency response, disaster casework and community mitigation activities. Incoming members will be mentored and trained in the complete disaster cycle. Surveys will measure community and client satisfaction. C) Health & Safety Outreach: members will deliver Red Cross safety, drowning and injury prevention programs to at-risk youth, seniors and other vulnerable residents and comunities. D) Diveristy Outreach: members will recruit and train new bilingual volunteers to assist communities during emergencies and disasters. E) Volunteer Outreach: members will assist in training and mentoring existing and new volunteers in various roles related to disaster preparedness, response and recovery, and military casework. F) On-line and classroom training as well as mentoring will be provided to Members allowing them to perform the above services.
