Community Health Center, Inc is currently seeking service-minded young adults to begin a 10month paid service term. Our program provides individuals the chance gain relevant community health experience, build professional skills, explore career opportunities, and serve in a fun and active group environment. Our ideal candidate is a dedicated, self-starter who has an interest in health care and a passion for making a difference. Our Community HealthCorps program provides a wide array of service opportunities in the following programs and departments: School-Based Health Center Outreach: This position consists of organizing and attending outreach events at the School-Based Health Centers. Community Resource Advocates: The member creates a network with local organizations to meet the non-medical needs of patients through collaboration with services available through other agencies. Family Wellness Center New Britain: The New Britain FWC coordinator manages all aspects of the Family Wellness Center (a space that provides free wellness-focused programs to families specifically with young children), including maintenance, program organization and some program facilitation. Wherever You Are (W.Y.A): The member works with A special team of medical staff in small efficient clinics within multiple homeless, domestic violence, and transitional shelters in New Britain, Meriden, and Middletown. Outreach, enrollment and education are key elements of this position. Access to Care Fairfield County: The positions in Fairfield County involve serving as a community resource advocates, working to meet the non-medical needs of our patients by connecting them with needed community resources such as shelter and access to food pantries. Early Detection Program: EDP is a program that eliminates barriers to accessing preventative cancer screenings for women and men by offering free mammograms, pap smears and colonoscopies to patients that have no insurance.

Member Duties : CHC's AmeriCorps members will serve in a variety of positions throughout the organization. All positions are designed to increase access to health care for America's underserved populations and develop tomorrow's health care workforce. Members will be placed in positions based on their interests, skills and career goals. A mix of office work and community work can be expected and will vary based on the position. In addition to the primary duties of each position, members will have the opportunity to do a variety of organized service projects with their fellow members throughout the state. Monthly team meetings give members an opportunity to receive training on different topics, share their experiences, bond with team members, and learn more about AmeriCorps and CHC. The position also provides members with professional development training and opportunities to explore other areas of interest within the organization.
