Compass AmeriCorps

Compass AmeriCorps seeks applicants who are passionate about learning from and providing service to people from many different cultures and countries. Our mission is to help connect immigrants, refugees and internationals to available social services, to work with them to help reduce barriers to service acquisition, and to serve as a connecting force for agencies that provide these services. Compass AmeriCorps members will primarily focus on two key priority areas: increasing employability (through job placement services, jobs skills development, and/or reducing barriers to employment), and assisting clients in accessing health services. AmeriCorps members do not provide health services related to prohibited items. Members will serve full-time for 11 months. A member's service will include daily service at the member's placement site, as well as team-based semi-monthly Friday trainings, and community service projects during evenings and weekends. Member responsibilities may include English as a Second Language instruction, job placement support, employment skills training (including workplace behavior/soft skills training), health services support (including coordinating physical health services and health literacy), citizenship instruction, and high school equivalency test instruction, coaching/counseling, social services support (including access to housing, legal services, and transportation services), recruiting/managing volunteers to provide direct service to clients, translation/interpretation services, and community outreach. We are committed to a diverse Corps and strongly encourage qualified individuals who represent the richness of our shared humanity to apply.
