Initiative Foundation VISTA Leader

POSITION START DATE FLEXIBLE. VISTA Leaders must have successfully completed a term of service as a VISTA, full-time AmeriCorps member, or Peace Corps volunteer (or will have successfully completed prior to beginning as a VISTA Leader). The Initiative Foundation's VISTA Leader helps the organization support 11 VISTAs serving in a wide variety of programs across 14 counties in Central MN (visit www.ifound.org). Projects may focus on: services to veterans and their families, emergency food, homelessness, workforce development, kindergarten readiness, immigrant and refugee services, among other things. The Initiative Foundation is a regional foundation with the mission to "Unlock the power of Central MN people to build and sustain thriving communities." With nearly 30 staff, the organization operates programs in economic development, community development and organizational development. Through these programs and our Innovation Grant Fund (discretionary pool of grant dollars), the Foundation makes approximately a million dollars in grants to Central MN nonprofits and government agencies each year. The Foundation is highly regarded as a regional "thought leader" and is centrally-located to the region in beautiful Little Falls (pop. 8,650) on the Mississippi River, a half hour north of St. Cloud (pop. 70,000) and a half hour south of the Brainerd Lakes area (pop. 30,000). Our VISTA Leader supports the work of our VISTAs in the field who can be hosted several hundred miles apart. Support involves site visits and regular communication and involvement in regular training events (usually monthly). Our VISTA Leader's primary tasks fall into three categories: outreach, project coordination, and project planning. VISTA Leader will have access to many professional development opportunities during their year of service in a supportive and fun work environment!

Member Duties : The VISTA Leader, having successfully completed a term of service as a VISTA, full-time AmeriCorps member, or Peace Corps volunteer (or will have successfully completed prior to beginning as a VISTA Leader), uses that experience to support 11 VISTA members "in the field" to help ensure their success by providing resources, serving as a liaison between VISTAs and the Initiative Foundation, organizing social and training events, etc. Additionally, the VISTA Leader supports the Foundation's VISTA Program Manager by assisting with outreach, reporting, evaluating outcomes, training, planning, etc. Day-to-day tasks vary but typically involve communication with VISTA members, research, writing, planning, website maintenance, etc. This is a great opportunity to gain professional experience and build a strong network during your year of service as a VISTA Leader with the Initiative Foundation!
