AmeriCorps Cross Cultural Education Service Systems (ACCESS)

Incepted in 1994, the ACCESS Project is the only program serving exclusively the immigrants and refugees throughout the state of North Carolina. The program is administered through the University of North Carolina at Greensboro at the Center for New North Carolinians. At least half of our members are immigrants and refugees themselves. Many of our current members are Spanish-speaking and perform their service within the Latino community, but we also serve many non-Spanish-speaking populations: Liberian, Montagnard, Burmese, Russian, and others. The ACCESS members are placed with our partner agencies providing direct services to the immigrant/refugee communities doing various human services. Currently, our members are placed at over 30 various service sites across North Carolina in refugee resettlement agencies, local health departments, multicultural libraries, and grassroots and faith-based organizations such as African Services Coalition, Inc., Central la Comunidad, and Montagnard Dega Association, Inc., just to name a few. Our program year runs September 1, 2010 through August 31, 2011. There are four ways to serve as an ACCESS member. To apply, please visit our website and follow the instructions provided at http://cnnc.uncg.edu/americorps/prospective/members/default.htm. Our objective is to fill all AmeriCorps positions with eligible and qualified candidates on a first come first serve basis before the end of August. Our program year begins September 1st and ends August 31st. Once your application package has been received by the ACCESS office, one of our staff members will contact you for an interview. Interviews will begin June 1st, 2010. You're welcome to contact me with any questions. Khouan M. Rodriguez, Project Director Khouanrodriguez@gmail.com (336) 256-1060
