Cornerstone-Ladder Alliance

The mission of The Ladder Alliance is to provide women, victims of domestic violence or low-income women, with the tools to lead self-reliant, independent & successful lives. The Ladder Alliance offers qualifying women 32 two-hour training sessions in basic computer skills including keyboarding, Microsoft Word & Excel, email functionality & Internet usage. They learn skills on state-of-the-art computers & software. GED classes are also offered to increase students’ potential for employment. To address known barriers to women succeeding in The Ladder Alliance program, childcare & a meal are offered each class night. Students pay $10 which covers the cost of the program manual, & they have access to gently used, business-appropriate clothing in the on-site “Success Store.” Students earn “Dollars” to use in the store by attending class on time (reinforcing the importance of a good work ethic). The store is stocked & staffed by community volunteers. At The Ladder Alliance, you will join 10 professionals & 50+ volunteers striving to improve the lives of women victims of domestic violence & low-income women. The Ladder Alliance provides a supportive work environment where creativity is appreciated. Because The Ladder Alliance is a small non-profit, you will have the opportunity to interact with prospective, current & past women students as they work towards their goals to be self-sufficient & independent. Success stories are common, & you will experience their excitement first hand. Working at The Ladder Alliance will also allow you to work with seasoned professional co-workers & to meet others at partner organizations. Another perk to working with The Ladder Alliance this year is its brand new location & facility called One Safe Place-OSP. OSP is a collaborative effort of the public & private sector to come together to address domestic violence. Several organizations will be housed together to help provide synergistic services to address multiple needs of clients.
