'Where Louisville Meets the World' VISTA Leader
 
 
 
Please do not apply unless you have prior service experience through either a full term of VISTA, NCCC, AmeriCorps State/National, or Peace Corps. The main role of the VISTA Leader is to support the efforts of the ‘Where Louisville Meets the World’ VISTA project, which includes 11 agencies and 13 VISTA members. The VISTA Leader will serve as a liaison to the community, the project, supervisors and AmeriCorps VISTA members. The VISTA Leader will be based at Americana Community Center, the sponsoring organization of the project. We are a non-profit organization that seeks to provide a spectrum of holistic services to the diverse residents of Louisville Metro. The community is located in a neighborhood with the largest concentration of varied ethnic groups in Louisville representing 101 different countries. Ten other local non-profit organizations are involved in the project: Adelante Hispanic Achievers, American Printing House for the Blind, Backside Learning Center, Beaded Treasures Project, Center for Nonprofit Excellence, Food Literacy Project, Jefferson Memorial Forest, Kentucky Refugee Ministries, Legal Aid Society, and Louisville Metro Parks.

Member Duties : Activities of the VISTA Leader will include: 1. Assist sites with recruiting qualified AmeriCorps VISTA members; 2. Provide ongoing support and leadership to VISTA members; 3.Conduct quarterly visits to participating agency sites to ensure members are appropriately engaged; 4. Coordinate regular professional development training opportunities for VISTA members; 5. Provide opportunities for VISTA members to network with each other; 6. Encourage project members to participate in National Days of Service (i.e. MLK Day of Service, Make a Difference Day); 7. Assist the project supervisor with collecting and reviewing information for quarterly progress reports; 8. Develop and maintain monitoring, reporting and project management systems; 9. Attend bimonthly supervisor meetings; 10. Coordinate an active Advisory Council made up of community members to provide support to the VISTA project.
