2019 UCA - Douglas County Museum Education Coordinator
 
 
 
Serving at the Douglas County Museum in Roseburg, OR, the Museum Education Coordinator will design, implement, and sustain high quality Museum based educational programming to the local school-aged children and families of Douglas County. The purpose of this position is to support Summer K-6 Educational activities at the Douglas County Museum, Umpqua Lighthouse, and Colliding Rivers Park thorugh; 1) Education - planning fun educational activities for K-6 age children based on the cultural and natural history of the Umpqua Valley; 2) Volunteer Coordination – recruit, coordinate, and train volunteers to assist with the planned events and activities; 3) Event facilitation – service member will, with the assistance of volunteers, facilitate planned events from start to finish; including, promotion, set up, clean-up; 4) Outreach activities including tabling at community activities and fairs. United Communities AmeriCorps (UCA) engages members in meaningful service designed to meet critical community needs in Coos, Curry, Douglas, Jackson and Josephine counties in beautiful Southern Oregon. UCA partners with community-based organizations, government agencies and schools to address needs relating to education, healthy futures and economic opportunity. Member Duties : 1) Establish and develop ongoing relationships/partnerships with area Schools, Head Start, Family Development Center, and other local service groups on behalf of Museum Educational programs; 2) Design and provide developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities based on Museum exhibits and collections; 3) Participate in implementation of special community events; 4) Recruit, train, schedule and supervise docents and volunteers to assist in providing programming; 5) Promote Museum programs through various area service groups and media outlets; & 6) Facilitate Museum tours for the general public.
