Louisiana Bucket Brigade - Volunteer Coordinator
 
 
 
Are you an agent of change? If so, the Louisiana Bucket Brigade wants you! The Louisiana Bucket Brigade, founded in 2000, is an environmental health and justice organization whose mission is to support communities use of grassroots action to create sustainable neighborhoods free from industrial pollution. The Volunteer Coordinator will develop systems for the LABB volunteer program, including recruitment, screening, orientation, and training. Activities Include: Recruit, screen and train 100 community volunteers. Recruit participants for the Environmental Justice Corps. Build a base of 25 -50 volunteers to lead or assist with LABB projects: Qualifications and Experience: - Possesses strong organizational, communication and writing skills - Experience recruiting, screening and training volunteers for grassroots action - Self starter - Creative thinker - Enthusiastic people person - Ability to motivate others, especially young people, to service - Experience coordinating events - Experience working with all age groups, college age students a plus. - Ability to travel extensively throughout the state and region - Strong networking skills - Strong commitment and passion for reducing community exposure to toxic pollution

Member Duties : Recruit, screen and train 100 community volunteers. -Create recruitment, screening, and training strategy, curricula & manual for volunteers. -Organize and lead TOTs for community members on bucket samples, odor logs, citizen complaints, etc. -Organize community leader participation in the Fenceline Neighbors Conference recruitment, logistics, and agenda setting. Recruit participants in the Environmental Justice Corps. -Network and build relationships with the regions Historically Black Colleges and Universities. -Develop program design, service-learning objectives for future EJ Corps in collaboration with HBCU key stakeholders. Build a base of 25 -50 volunteers to lead or assist with LABB projects: -Create relationships with institutions / organizations to diversify our volunteer pool -Organize volunteers to work the Earth Day Festival 2010. -Assure that there is a volunteer recruitment component and presence at all LABB events.
