Cornerstone-VOATexas-Volunteer Engagement VISTA-Dallas
Volunteers of America TX is a faith-based, nonprofit organization that lifts the most vulnerable in society out of the shadows. We step forward to help individuals find strength, healing & their full potential through services, including: • Addiction treatment, prevention & recovery programs; • Affordable housing for seniors, low-income families & adults with disabilities; • Community re-entry programs from those transitioning from prison; • Housing & support for adults with intellectual & developmental disabilities; • A continuum of support services to assist our clients & address the needs of the whole person. With locations in more than 30 urban and rural communities, we’ve been making a difference for those who need the most help in Texas for close to 100 years. With 287,000 seniors living below the poverty line; more than 1,037,000 disabled individuals; over 91,000 residents seeking treatment for addiction annually; and more than 65,000 inmates returning to their communities each year, the needs in TX are far too vast for us to address on our own. We recognize the importance – and value – of engaging our local community. Our VISTA members will establish sustainability for our volunteer engagement efforts, changing the lives of those we serve. The VISTA member will promote a culture of volunteerism within our communities, our programs, our clients and staff. Working closely with clients, colleagues & community members, the VISTA will assess needs; train staff & volunteers; develop strategic relationships; recruit volunteers; and enhance the services provided to our clients. This is a great opportunity to embrace your passion for service & volunteerism while also gaining valuable experience within the non-profit community and with volunteer coordination and management. VISTAs will be required pass background, drug and motor vehicle screenings. Applicants must have reliable transportation and auto insurance. Evenings and weekends may be required.
