VHCB AmeriCorps - Homeownership Advisor (VEIC)
VEIC mission: to reduce the economic and environmental costs of energy use Goal of position: promote Zero Energy Modular (ZEM) for Vermont’s low-income residents, with a special focus on mobile home replacement, and support individuals through the home buying process Service is performed primarily indoors in an office environment. Some time will be spent at a model home, which is comfortably furnished and used as a remote office location. Occasional travel is required to conduct events, conduct outreach in mobile home parks, attend meetings, and visit the ZEM factory. Position begins September 11th, 2017 and ends August 10th, 2018. This position is Half Time: Requires 900 hours and serves approximately 20 hours per week for 11 months. Member will receive a living allowance of $9,450 (pre-tax), and an education award of $2,908 (pre-tax) upon successful completion of service. Other benefits include health insurance, federal school loan forbearance, and various training opportunities.

Member Duties : Essential Duties of Position: • Educate potential owners about the benefits of ZEM housing and the financial resources available to low-income buyers • Follow up with mobile home replacement candidates: contact interested parties to discover obstacles and opportunities. Make connections between homebuyers and resources. • Plan and attend events to promote the ZEM concept: be an ambassador for the financial and health benefits of ZEM homes. • Provide information to external partners to educate on the benefits and measured performance of the ZEM homes. Be an ambassador of ZEM to influential individuals and organizations.
