United Way serves as intermediary sponsor for PROJECT UNITE and places VISTA Members at host agency sites in the CSRA to help strengthen their internal capacity to serve homeless and low-income individuals and families experiencing poverty in Richmond County and 12 rural counties in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA). We are currently recruiting for one (1) VISTA to be placed in the Mayor's Office in Augusta, GA to build a new MY BROTHER'S KEEPER initiative. WHAT IS MY BROTHER'S KEEPER? An opportunity recruit and train mentors the help unlock the full potential for our young people, including boys and young men of color - ensuring children enter school ready to learn, are reading at grade level by 3rd grade, and graduate from high school ready for college and career. **NOTE: PLEASE BE SURE TO COMPLETE ALL 4 APPLICATIONS COMPONENTS: 1) SET UP A USER NAME AND PASSWORD AND PROFILE 2) COMPLETE THE FULL APPLICATION TO INCLUDE REFERENCES 3) WHEN YOUR APPLICATION IS COMPLETE GO BACK INTO THE SYSTEM AND "CHOSE UNITED WAY OF THE CSRA (AUGUSTA)" AND SELECT SUBMIT. Member Duties : PROJECT UNITE has 3-Project Plan objectives the VISTA Members will work on in United Way's regional service area (12 counties): 1) Strengthen organizational capacity (ex, help establish new programs and services, seek & train volunteers, develop and/or update brochures, newsletters, etc.) 2) Strengthen financial capacity (ex., identify & write grants, seek in-kind donations, organize fundraising events, etc.) 3) Strengthen social capital (ex., community networking, marketing programs, making contacts and attending meetings, setting up trainings and tutoring programs, etc.) 4) Utilize an office computer system daily-EXCELLENT computer skills required, to include Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. 5) Some travel in the Central Savannah River Area required to support capacity building needs, so a valid driver's license and dependable transportation is required. VISTAs will be eligible for mileage reimbursement.
