Experience will be gained in the public health field and community collaboration. Learn about the area and vision at: http://www.kitsappublichealth.org and https://extension.wsu.edu/kitsap/gleaning/ Rotary First Harvest’s program, Harvest Against Hunger, acts as a program incubator and catalyst, utilizing a team of AmeriCorps VISTA who build sustainable gleaning and produce recovery programs. This includes coordinating volunteer groups to glean and harvest produce, and addressing issues and challenges related to supply chain management – like the transportation and distribution of gleaned produce. It also aims to involve the larger community in addressing food insecurity through encouraging individuals and farmers to intentionally plant in order to donate. www.firstharvest.org
