Community Action, Inc. - Digital Navigator (LitMN)

Digital Navigation Corps provides digital job readiness skills and creates pathways of economic opportunities for adults 16 years and older from low-income and historically under-invested communities. Digital Navigation Corps is a program of Literacy Minnesota, an organization that envisions a future where literacy eliminates injustices and strengthens communities. Digital Navigation Corps is in response to the digital skills-gap that impacts communities across the country. Digital Navigation Corps addresses critical digital literacy needs by bringing Digital Navigators to work alongside community members who are striving to reach their professional goals. The Mission of Community Action, Inc. of Central Texas is “Helping Central Texans improve economic self-reliance through a wide range of services and community partnerships.” According to the National Digital Inclusion Alliance, “Digital equity is a condition in which all individuals and communities have the information technology capacity needed for full participation in our society, democracy, and economy.” However, many communities experience a gap between those who make full use of the internet and technology in their everyday lives and those who cannot because of significant barriers. Digital Navigators are one best practices for bridging the digital divide. They work in communities as trusted guides to provide one-on-one, individualized assistance to those who need it as well as small group support. We’re hoping that the Digital Navigator will help bridge the digital divide in our community.
