Urban League of Essex County – Digital Navigator (LitMN)

The AmeriCorps Digital Navigator at the Urban League of Essex County’s Tech House will play a vital role in advancing digital equity across Newark and Essex County’s most underserved communities. The purpose of this position is to help bridge the digital divide by equipping residents—both youth and adults—with the knowledge, tools and confidence to thrive in an increasingly digital world. Working within the Tech House, a state-of-the-art technology and STEAM hub, the Navigator will provide one-on-one and small group assistance to community members seeking to build essential computer, internet and digital literacy skills. This includes helping participants access affordable broadband and devices, navigate online resources, complete digital literacy training, and connect to educational or workforce opportunities. The Navigator will support youth STEAM programs by mentoring students, assisting with technology labs, and facilitating digital inclusion workshops for parents through the PULSE (Parents United for Lifelong STEAM Education) initiative. Through compassionate service, the member will empower individuals to become confident users and creators of technology, fostering inclusion, career readiness, and civic engagement. Ultimately, the Navigator helps ensure that no resident is left behind in the digital transformation reshaping today’s economy and society. The Navigator will serve as a frontline advocate and instructor in bridging the digital divide for residents of Newark and surrounding Essex County communities. Through their duties, the Navigator will play a critical role empowering residents to become confident, connected and capable participants in today’s digital society. *Position is part of the Digital Navigation Corps program of Literacy Minnesota (LitMN).
