26-27 Cowlitz Indian Tribe Community Preparedness Specialist
 
 
 
This is an AmeriCorps/Washington Service Corps national service position. It is contingent on funding and open until filled. The Cowlitz Indian Tribe’s Emergency Management Program prepares for and supports Tribal members and Tribal community programs during emergencies. The member will support community preparedness and disaster readiness initiatives. They will get hands-on experience across emergency management functions while working closely with program staff, Tribal departments, and Tribal members. This position presents a unique opportunity to help develop the Tribal Resilience Hub plan. The start date could be 9/1 or 10/1. We expect to begin rolling review of applications and interviews in early July. Monthly stipend amount: $3,723.

Member Duties : The Community Preparedness Specialist will support the Tribe’s overall resilience by supporting disaster preparation. They will facilitate safety and preparedness training and exercises for Tribal staff; assist with emergency management research and data collection to support Tribal community and related grants; organize and distribute supplies; conduct preparedness outreach; help draft policies and procedures; and support development of a Tribal Resilience Hub plan.
