Gifts for Seniors - Tech for Seniors Project (LitMN)

Gifts for Seniors strives to alleviate the devastating adverse health impacts of loneliness and social isolation for over 8,000 older adults. Our inclusive programs provide life-affirming contact and access to community resources for living and aging well. In our changing social structure, loneliness among older adults has become exceedingly prevalent. Losing connections to family, friends, and the community leads to greater risks for health and wellbeing decline. The U.S. Surgeon General has declared loneliness as a new public health epidemic. This societal crisis will be exacerbated by the permanent demographic shift of having more older adults than school-aged children in our communities. Ageism, poverty, and lack of digital skills are significant barriers to digital adoption for older adults. Tech for Seniors assists those struggling to remain connected to others with a 4- pronged approach – devices, affordable internet, digital literacy education, and ongoing 1-on-1 support. Since 2020, the program has provided tablets for those who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford one. However, we know access to devices and affordable internet alone are not enough to ensure full adoption for successful online engagement. Gain professional and personal development skills while working alongside an amazing team dedicated to saving lives through digital literacy education for isolated older adults in need. You will play a key role in the program development and expansion efforts as we fortify sustainability for this critical programming
