Hubbs Center’s vision is that adults in our community will have the digital literacy skills they need to reach their goals in all areas of life -- employment, community access, higher education, and more – and be able to assist others to do the same. To achieve this vision, the Digital Navigator will teach digital literacy skills classes, provide orientation to new students entering online classes and connect students to resources to increase their digital access.The Digital Navigator will increase the skills of our learners by: 1) teaching “Everyday Digital Literacy” classes to groups of students; 2)providing one-to-one and small group technology support to students; 3) facilitating online and distance learning orientations for students; 4) teaching short-term or one-time “value-added” classes on frequently-requested topics such as online job searching, digital safety and basic computer troubleshooting; 5) providing assistance to students working on distance learning programs in Hubbs computer lab; 6) proctoring Northstar Digital Literacy Skills assessments; 7)assisting with and further developing laptop loaner program; and 8) connecting students with affordable internet options.

Member Duties : Digital Navigators will conduct program participant intakes, design individualized Digital Development Plans, and provide digital literacy instruction at host sites. Digital Navigators will support program participant certification through one-on-one mentorship and group tutoring using Northstar Digital Literacy. They will also update or create digital resource guides and make referrals to program participants based on participant intake self-identified goals. Digital Navigators will evaluate program effectiveness through post-participation follow-up surveys that track 1) program participants’ increased confidence in digital literacy skills and 2) employment gains. Members will serve in-person at their host site.
