WE LAB Program VISTA

Dream in Green’s Water & Energy – Learning and Behavior (WE-LAB) program is designed to engage, educate, and empower low to moderate-income and frontline communities to better understand environmental and public health issues. WE-LAB educates residents on the effects water, energy, and waste consumption have on our resources. Through interactive workshops the program shows participants how consumption contributes to climate change. To counter climate change, it is critical for residents to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions through lower water and energy use, given the inherent interdependence of the water and energy sectors. Through the WE-LAB program, residents learn about how to secure and sustain our water supply for future generations and are equipped with the proper knowledge and tools to become environmental stewards in their communities. The short-term goal for participants attending these public environmental education workshops is to learn about how recycling helps to reduce pollution and how hazardous waste threatens their water supply. The outcome is to expand and enhance services to address the energy burdens and negative health impacts due to climate change.
