Summer Reads – Aitkin (LitMN)
 
 
 
Rippleside Elementary School is located in Aitkin, MN. We are a K-6 elementary school. We run a summer math and literacy program to help slow the summer slide. We are looking for energetic and creative people to work with our classroom teachers and paras to make this the best summer experience our students can have! *Positions are part of Literacy Minnesota’s Summer Reads program, which trains and places more than 40 AmeriCorps VISTA members as literacy mentors for children (primarily K-5) in schools, libraries and out-of-school-time programs statewide. About half of members serve outside the Twin Cities metro.

Member Duties : Our Summer Reads Mentors will work and plan side-by-side with classroom teachers and paraprofessionals. Members serve full-time, approximately 40 hours per week, primarily Mon - Fri. Literacy Minnesota provides member trainings on most Fridays. Term of service is June 20 – August 14. Pre-Service Orientation takes place June 20-21. Multiple positions available. Literacy Minnesota fosters an organizational culture that is welcoming and inclusive to all. Applications reviewed on a rolling basis.
