Brookline Interactive Group - Civic Brookline Project(LitMN)

BIG’s Civic Brookline project will provide digital equity and community engagement for the 25%of residents in Brookline Housing Authority (BHA) housing have no internet or digital devices; with the research, coalition-building and evaluation work of this VISTA project BIG will be able to increase access to broadband, digital devices and digital literacy programs, supporting those communities hardest hit during the pandemic to reduce disparity in our community. This project will develop over the next three years in collaboration with key community stakeholders and partners, and will include community events, hybrid and digital platforms, and site-specific digital inclusion training programs. With a growing understanding of the lack of Broadband access, education and resources for some in our community, the Tech Equity Coordinator(TEC) Literacy Leader will significantly help BIG leverage that awareness and develop key collaborations, partnerships and programs to significantly close that gap. We want to further our efforts to leverage our digital equity, communications resources and relationships to reduce disparity, create new hybrid and remote safe spaces for technical learning and accessibility, and offer more opportunities and support for community conversations and forums about culture, local decision-making, and education. The TEC's focus would be to further develop collaboration with key stakeholders like residents in Brookline Housing and senior housing, coordinate with the local partners such as BHA, education, municipal and community groups, research and conduct community surveys, design a strategic program and timeline for rolling out our Civic Brookline project to promote broadband access and digital literacy solutions for communities with a clear need for access and skill-building.
