Athens-Clarke County Library VISTA 2023
 
 
 
The Athens-Clarke County Library (ACCL) Teen Services department strives to create a community of readers by engaging with local teens and preteens in ways that promote literacy, education, and positive youth development. Through its county branches and resource centers, ACCL provides access to reading materials, technology, staff, and space that meet the needs of today’s teen community. In addition, funding from the Friends of the Library group allows the Teen Services department to offer engaging programs on a diverse range of topics, including reading, literacy, art, STEM, social justice, and life skills, The library also supports teens where they are, through outreach programs and events at local schools, clubs, organizations, or other community gathering places. This VISTA position is part of the University of Georgia's AmeriCorps VISTA Network.

Member Duties : The ACC Library VISTA is part of the Teen Services team and supports the library’s comprehensive programming and outreach with an emphasis on sustainable programs for youth from low-income and marginalized communities. The member will build positive relationships with teen patrons and collaborate with library staff, volunteers, and local organizations to design services and programs to meet their educational and social needs. In addition, the VISTA will support marketing and outreach efforts in the ACC community. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining partnerships with community organizations, recruiting and training volunteers, purchasing supplies, designing marketing and program materials, promoting services and programs, and collecting and reporting data. The VISTA also assists with planning and support of Teen Summer Reading. This position entails afterschool and evening hours, along with occasional weekends. Local travel and a personal vehicle are also required.
