HandsOn AmeriCorps Summer Response Program

Join HandsOn Greater Phoenix and help tackle critical local community needs that have been exacerbated by the pandemic! The COVID epidemic has widened the gap for many and increased the need in services for various sectors; effects that will continue to linger long after COVID itself. This summer HandsOn is partnering with two local nonprofits to help ramp up services in this time of need. As a part of this 10-week program you will be committing to completing 300 hours of service at your choice of one of our partner sites. There will be some flexibility in schedules but on average you’ll need to complete 30 hours of service each week. What’s the need? St. Vincent De Paul: Food banks, and related resources, have seen a spike in need throughout the pandemic. A need that is continuing during an unequal economic ‘recovery.’ Arizona Faith Network: August 2020 was the hottest month ever recorded in the county with over 3,700 heat related emergencies from May to September. With more people unhoused due to the pandemic, or in precarious housing situations, 2021 is shaping up to be even more dangerous for at risk communities who are already marginalized by other factors of society. Please see ‘Members Duties’ section below for more details on roles. About HandsOn Greater Phoenix: For over 25 years, HandsOn Greater Phoenix has worked with nonprofits, Title I schools, neighborhood associations and government entities to assess and meet the volunteer needs of the Greater Phoenix area. We have over 20 years of experience as a AmeriCorps program. APPLICATIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED ON A ROLLING BASIS UNTIL FILLED. PLEASE APPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE FOR BEST CONSIDERATION!
