21-22 El Centro Financial Empowerment Program Assistant
As an organization grounded in the Latino community of Washington State, it is the mission of El Centro de la Raza (The Center for People of All Races) to build the Beloved Community through unifying all racial and economic sectors; to organize, empower, and defend the basic human rights of our most vulnerable and marginalized populations; and to bring critical consciousness, justice, dignity, and equity to all the peoples of the world. El Centro de la Raza's Business Opportunity Center (BOC) is looking for a bilingual (English/Spanish) Financial Empowerment Assistant AmeriCorps member. This person will help strengthen the capacity of El Centro de la Raza participants, especially residents of the Firs Mobile Home Community, to manage and augment their household finances and credit to ameliorate the effects of debt and poor financial management. In addition, this person will assist the families who desire to apply for Down Payment Assistance in order to buy a house!

Member Duties : Work with Firs Mobile Home participants to apply for Down Payment Assistance. Support housing and financial education process including but not limited to: outreach, enrollment process, logistics, physical and electronic files and records. Assist in the communication between Forterra Organization and Firs Mobile Home Community regarding down payment assistance, applications and the purchase process. One-on-one participant support on Financial Management, Budget, and Credit Counseling. Assist the Lending Circle Program, in collaboration with the Mission Asset Fund to improve the credit situation of the participants. Assist participants in working with enders and Real Estate entities. Maintenance of participant files including but not limited to: physical folders, self-certification of income, In-take, counselor max, salesforce, excel sheets, lending circle application, etc. Outreach: flyers, social media, phone, text messages, emails, etc.
