21-22 Literacy Outreach And Engagement - Language Arts

The Reading Foundation promotes literacy and learning and serves youth 0-18, especially those who are traditionally under-served. Our goal is to improve their educational outcomes by ensuring they are proficient readers and eager and engaged learners. Our staff of three and a corps of committed volunteers work collaboratively to serve over 1500 children, youth, and families each week throughout our region, with a focus on Mason and Thurston counties. The programs we provide include reading intervention tutoring, family education presentations and discussions, STEM, writing, and reading group activities, and free book distributions. We partner with over one hundred schools, after school and summer programs, health care providers, libraries, early learning centers, parents and caregiver support groups, homeless shelters, food banks, and other agencies, organizations, and businesses serving traditionally under-served children, youth, and families. Our Literacy Outreach & Engagement Language Arts Coordinator will support our mission by providing reading interventions, after school and summer language arts group activities, partnering with our team to provide family literacy nights, and distributing free books to traditionally under-served children, youth, and families. Interviews for this position will be conducted throughout the spring and summer until we have found a candidate who will thrive in our small team, supportive, creative, impactful, mission-focused organization.
