COASST Debris Monitoring Engagement Specialist

This position will be hosted by the Coastal Observation and Seabird Survey Team (COASST), a citizen science program of the University of Washington that engages coastal community members in beach monitoring. COASST sees a future in which all coastal communities contribute directly to monitoring their local marine resources and ecosystem health through the establishment of a network of people and programs collecting rigorous and vital data. COASST believes coastal communities and people are essential scientific partners in monitoring marine ecosystem health. The goal of this position is to grow and retain a corps of participants who monitor marine debris in our program, and to evaluate and ensure that data coming out of the program are useful and used. Service will involve developing and carrying out a volunteer engagement and data management plan in service of improving participant retention and marine debris module data quality. This position is contingent on funding. This position will remain open until filled.
