UGA AmeriCorps VISTA Network Leader 2023
 
 
 
NOTE: AmeriCorps VISTA Leaders must have completed at least one AmeriCorps term already to be eligible. Exact start date is flexible (contact to discuss). This position supports the UGA AmeriCorps VISTA Network, its AmeriCorps VISTAs, sites and stakeholders to build capacity, fight poverty and enhance connections between the University of Georgia and the Athens, GA community. The VISTA Leader provides assistance, resources, training, and coordination of the members in collaboration with their site placements and the UGA Office of Service-Learning (administrative home for the AmeriCorps VISTA Network). With a focus on food insecurity and waste, sustainability and educational initiatives, the UGA AmeriCorps VISTA Network includes year-long AmeriCorps members and/or summer associates placed at sites such as Athens Library, Athens Community Council on Aging, College Factory, Concrete Jungle, Butterfly Dreams Farm, and on campus (Campus Kitchen-UGA,Experience UGA, UGArden). VLDR objectives and activities include developing understanding of local community and campus resources; determining, developing and delivering appropriate training in support of AmeriCorps VISTAs and their VADs; communicating and meeting regularly with AmeriCorps members individually and in groups and with sites and supervisors; assisting with AmeriCorps publicity, recruitment, retention, and transitions; and providing general support to the UGA AmeriCorps VISTA Network and its stakeholders. VISTA Leaders MUST have successfully completed at least one prior term as an AmeriCorps member. Priority will be given to mature and conscientious individuals who possess solid understanding of CNCS/AmeriCorps policies and are able to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders, problem-solve, work independently on multiple fronts, travel to placement sites in the Athens area, and use technology tools effectively.

Member Duties : The VISTA Leader provides support to a diverse set of year-long AmeriCorps VISTA members in campus and community placements in Athens GA, as well as additional Summer Associates at these sites. With a solid understanding of the local community and campus resources, the VLDR provides support to the network stakeholders including AmeriCorps VISTAs, site supervisors, and UGA staff. Responsibilities include determining, developing and delivering appropriate training in support of AmeriCorps members and their activities; communicating and meeting regularly with members individually and in groups and with sites and supervisors; assisting with program and VAD compliance, reporting, and documentation; assisting with VISTA publicity, recruitment, retention, and transitions; implementing structures to support member success, growth, and camaraderie; and providing general support to the UGA AmeriCorps Network and its stakeholders. Must have completed 1 year of AmeriCorps service already.
