BCC Mission Statement The BCC AmeriCorps Early Care Educators will develop a quality teacher assistant training program where the members, Head Start Program parents from diverse backgrounds, preparations and aspirations will be coached and provided with the knowledge and the skills to support the implementation of safe learning environments for children from 0 – 5. Additionally, the members will recognize the value of service and organize and participate in events which will positively impact the strengthening of their families and communities. The Teacher Assistant Program offered through the Bronx Community Workforce Division is excited to announce that they have become the recipient of a three-year AmeriCorps grant award. This grant will support training 28 AmeriCorps members to be volunteers in early childhood center base and/or virtual classrooms . The members will be recruited from for the parent body with children enrolled in the Work Force Development Head Start Program collaborations. Each AmeriCorps member will complete the Child Development Associate credential training while volunteering in the classroom. The grant will cover the cover the cost of the training, the credential and other costs such as fingerprinting and other mandatory clearances. Member Requirements Education High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience Parent Involvement in the childcare program Interest in early childhood education career Previous volunteer experience in early childhood setting for 0 – 5 Some exposure and experience with technology Additional requirements: State background clearance FBI fingerprint background check Proof of citizenship

Member Duties : They will: * attend virtual Child Development Associate (CDA) Training sessions totaling 120 hours * they will complete 480 hours of internship in early childhood center based and or virtual early care setting * complete CDA portfolio and testing * develop and participate in service volunteer events such as: Veterans Day, MLK
