Have you dreamed of making a meaningful difference in a community of urban activists? Then join the team at the Manchester Food Collaborative/Families In Transition! Our Queen City is experiencing an unprecedented groundswell of initiatives and efforts addressing issues around poverty and food insecurity. From local non-profits to faith community partnerships, numerous concepts are developing and taking shape within the region. But we need help! Organizing and cross-pollinating these projects is vital to maximize impact and avoid duplication of efforts. Are you adept at online research, to explore and uncover parallel projects around the city? Interested in the development of organizational structure, to explore sustainability and best practices, to network between potential partner agencies? This is a dream position if you’re passionate about meaningful community engagement; come sharpen your leadership skills, build lifelong relationships, and define your career trajectory. A fun cross-section of experience with a quality team of wonderful, like-minded people- this position is ideal for the aspiring community activist with a heart to make a difference. The New Hampshire Food Insecurity AmeriCorps program is a full time VISTA service opportunity. AmeriCorps members serve with community based organizations, youth serving organizations and colleges to build capacity for local communities to address food insecurity. This VISTA Program provides high-impact professional development and training for our VISTA members. Training addresses skills required to carry out the assigned VISTA role, as well as skill-building that will be valuable to the VISTA member in their future professional pursuits. The program is a cohort-based experience that creates the opportunity to learn from peers in the program, to share what is learned in service, and to foster a supportive service year community. Member Duties : Do you want to serve with an organization committed to relieving hunger and poverty? Then there’s a place for you at Families in Transition-New Horizons (FITNH) as an AmeriCorps VISTA service member. Join Families in Transition-New Horizons to: Use your skills to help a New Hampshire city tackle pressing issues such as poverty and food insecurity, give back to the community while gaining valuable leadership skills and work on meaningful projects that you’re passionate about. The FITNH AmeriCorps VISTA project provides an opportunity for community engagement, development of organizational structure, explore sustainability, research best practices, research and organize providers for collaborative opportunities.  The position will also be hands on in helping food service organizations provide food directly to those in need.  This position is a wonderful balance of community organizing work and direct food service opportunities.
