MENTOR Program Quality VISTA

MENTOR’s vision is that all young people have access to the supportive mentoring relationships they need to grow and develop into thriving, productive, and engaged adults. MENTOR National works in partnership with regional Affiliates that provide the local leadership and infrastructure necessary to meet the demands of young people and communities across the country. For more than 30 years, MENTOR National and Affiliates have unified and led the mentoring field in expanding both the quality and quantity of youth mentoring relationships in the United States. MENTOR National currently has 25 Affiliates and is continuing to expand nationwide. We do this by: • Increasing public awareness about the power and impact of mentoring • Developing and delivering resources and training to mentoring programs nationwide and • Raising the quality of mentoring through evidence-based standards and research. The MENTOR Program Quality VISTA will play a key role in the creation and curation of materials and resources for Affiliates and mentoring programs, with a special focus on the National Quality Mentoring System. The National Quality Mentoring System (NQMS) helps mentoring programs adopt evidence-based mentoring standards and procedures through a guided self-assessment and coaching process. The goal of the NQMS is to help programs demonstrate or improve their quality through a customized assessment and review of current practices. The process highlights the strengths of mentoring programs and builds a plan for continuous improvement and innovation. This VISTA will coordinate working group communications and cross-functional tasks, learning opportunities, and, eventually, co-lead training sessions.
