The Catherine McAuley Center offers hope and opportunity through educational and supportive services that promote stability, skill-building, and connection. The Center provides educational opportunities, safe housing, refugee resettlement, employment assistance and training to more than 900 clients each year. The Center’s Communications staff engage the wider community in our mission by sharing the impact of services, recognizing contributions of volunteers and partnerships, and educating on issues impacting clients. This VISTA position raises awareness by developing a communications plan and strategizing outreach. Project goals: 1. Member will develop web content and create a schedule and process for keeping website updated, analyze metrics, and develop a format for reporting. 2. The member will plan and coordinate awareness-raising community outreach events, create materials to assist with planning these events, review data from past events and provide recommendations on which events to continue, and new opportunities in the future. 3. Member will monitor key issues impacting CMC clients, provide recommendations for when to mention in general CMC communications, develop content, and ensure that all activities align with the policies and procedures developed by previous VISTAs. This project is part of the Community Corps VISTA Program, operated by Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact. The program strives to eliminate poverty through campus-community partnerships by placing full-time capacity building support in nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions. There are three focus areas, this project being in the Opportunity Corps which supports sites in long-term approaches to issues related to personal economic success including housing and employment support. ***Please also send cover letter and resume to supervisor. Member Duties : The goal of this project is to optimize CMC’s communications through identifying key topics to cover, and collecting and analyzing data to guide future publications. Project goals: 1. Develop web content and create a schedule and process for keeping website updated. Track and analyze metrics, use findings to determine effective communication strategies. Develop a reporting and evaluation format. 2. Plan and coordinate awareness-raising community outreach events, identify new opportunities, and create materials to assist with planning these events. Review historical data to provide recommendations on which events to continue. Establish an annual meeting between CMC staff and local universities to build partnerships and collaboration. 3. Monitor key issues impacting CMC clients in local, state, and national news, develop awareness-raising content to include in general CMC communications, and ensure that all activities align with the communications policies and procedures.
