Farm Park Assistant
 
 
 
City Slicker Farms increases wellness and builds community through equitable access to healthy food, thriving gardens, and urban green spaces. Based in West Oakland, we partner with low and fixed income communities, communities of color, youth, and elders throughout Alameda County to create a more just and equitable food system. The Farm Park Assistant will help increase farm park capacity by researching, identifying, and helping to implement improvements to Farm Park infrastructure. As potential food shortages loom, there is a need for the farm park to maximize production within our 1.4 acre space as well as to determine the best pathways for distributing farm park produce. This VISTA position will work with staff to identify and implement innovative urban farming practices and opportunities for outreach that will best reach our target communities. Duties will include research and implementation of Farm Park infrastructure improvements, identifying and hosting informational meetings with community partners, and researching and implementing improved farm systems.
