Job Training and Placement AmeriCorps
 
 
 
In 2022, the Kansas Volunteer Commission awarded the International Rescue Committee's (IRC) Kansas Office for Refugees (KSOR) an AmeriCorps Kansas subaward that that will fund service positions to serve refugees and other vulnerable populations seeking employment opportunities across the state of Kansas. AmeriCorps members serving in this program will provide job training and placement services at partner sites throughout the state of Kansas. The Job Training and Placement AmeriCorps member will provide 1) job readiness training for clients to improve employability skills; and 2) job placement services for clients to obtain and/or retain new or better employment.

Member Duties : •Increase clients’ Economic Wellbeing as determined by the Family Self-Sufficiency Plan (FSSP), including barriers such as access to food, employability, financial stability, transportation, and childcare •Conduct vocational training courses, including on-the-job training, workplace orientation, mock interviews, creation of resumes, job skills development sessions, and skills recertification •Improve clients’ understanding of digital and vocational English •Refer clients to job opportunities, job search, and application assistance •Deliver and update existing job training curriculum, as appropriate •Accompany clients to job interviews and orientations as needed. •Assist clients and employers with post placement issues and continuing employment needs •Monitor job performance, wage level, and employer/employee satisfaction.
