Healthier Glades Project Support Specialist
 
 
 
Healthier Glades launched in 2017 in the historically underserved rural area of Palm Beach County with rich cultural and agricultural assets. Their focus area is behavioral health with the intention for residents to thrive physically, emotionally and spiritually. We believe behavioral health is how we cope with life stressors and what it means to be healthy and well physically, emotionally and spiritually. The Healthier Glades mission is to assist residents in coping with life stressors and to create a sense of mental well-being that will impact the Glades communities. Healthier Glades will gain the trust of its residents and support a new narrative in the Glades communities emphasizing the assets, strengths and resiliency of its residents and institutions. “The Glades” is the collective of four communities—Belle Glade, Pahokee, South Bay and the unincorporated community of Canal Point—located in the western section of the county along Lake Okeechobee. The total combined population is 36,503 with the following demographics by community. Healthier Glades works with the Glades communities beginning with the area’s natural assets and resources including family, faith and friends. Community Partners of South Florida serves as fiscal agent and manages the Creating Access; Building Social Capital AmeriCorps VISTA project.

Member Duties : In year two, the Healthier Glades Project Support Specialist will serve to develop a Community Plan, “Unlock our Communities' Strengths," that will lead to change through storytelling, resident asset mapping, and social connectedness. The Healthier Glades Project Support Specialist will perform under the supervision of the Project Director; the member will develop a social media campaign, an engagement toolkit, document the process of collecting content from resident-led workgroups to add to the Unlock our Communities' Strengths Healthier Glades Community Plan.
