Digital Inclusion Events, Education and Support (Baltimore

PCs for People believes that closing the digital divide presents one of the greatest opportunities to increase educational achievement, workforce readiness and employment, and ultimately move people out of poverty into economic prosperity. The organization was thus founded to help close the digital divide by providing low or no-cost refurbished computers, mobile Internet access, technology training, repair and tech support services to low-income individuals and families and nonprofit organizations that serve vulnerable and under-resourced individuals and communities. Founded in St. Paul Minnesota in 2008, PCs for People has just opened in Baltimore, one of the worst digitally connected cities in America. Over the next 3 years PCs for People plans to change that statistic, providing computers for 25% of the households who do not own one and connecting more than 10,000 households with mobile internet access. In addition, the VISTA Digital Impact Coordinator will play a very important role increasing the number of students and families who receive support and training to maximize the use of technology in their daily lives – leading to improved education, employment and economic success.
