Hunger & Health Associate-OH Association of Foodbanks

The Ohio Association of Foodbanks (OAF) has served as Ohio’s largest charitable response to hunger since 1991. Our mission is to provide food and other resources to people in need and to pursue areas of common interest for the benefit of people in need. We represent Ohio’s 12 Feeding America foodbanks and their 3,600 partner hunger relief organizations, serving Ohioans in all 88 counties. Our statewide network of member foodbanks has a long history of implementing programs to improve the health of Ohioans who are food insecure. These programs exist along a continuum that includes: integrating healthier food procurement practices at our foodbanks; coordinating with thousands of local food pantries to increase healthy food offerings; training healthcare partners to screen for food insecurity; establishing referral networks for produce prescription programs, and more. This VISTA position is focused on assessing the nutritional value of the food OAF sources and researching, developing, and promoting methods and resources for integrating a sourcing-for-health lens into our work and within the network.
