ShareCorps - OH Assoc of Foodbanks - Statewide Food Response

The Ohio Association of Foodbanks provides emergency food and other resources to Ohio's 12 Feeding America foodbanks and their 3,600 partner agencies serving hungry people in all 88 counties in Ohio. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has made an already serious food security crisis much worse, creating record unemployment levels, lost wages, missing school meals, and an ongoing recession. Our network is busy implementing new ways to secure and distribute more food effectively, raise funds to support our mission virtually, support families suffering from food and economic insecurity creatively, recruit and welcome volunteers back to our facility safely, document and communicate about the impact of the pandemic on local families powerfully, and build our overall capacity to meet the increased needs of our neighbors. As a member serving with us, you will help to support the modification and modernization of a variety of statewide anti-hunger programs and initiatives, providing food and resources through innovation and collaboration in the era of COVID-19. Member Duties : VISTA members serving as part of the statewide COVID-19 Food Security Critical Response project will work on specific activities that contribute toward shared goals for preventing hunger and improving household stability during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. In your role serving at the Ohio Association of Foodbanks, you will: - Monitor the impact of COVID-19 on the statewide hunger relief network through periodic surveys and reporting. - Support the 2021 Governor's Summer Meals Programs, including modification or adaptation of service delivery models and local partnerships to meet the needs of hungry children while potentially operating within COVID-19 restrictions. - Update training materials and program handbooks to reflect recent changes in delivery models and operating procedures. - Provide support to 2021 Capacity Building Grant Program to improve handling capabilities for fresh, highly perishable foods across the network. - Assist with other COVID-19 responses, as needed.
