Community Engagement & Outreach VISTA - SE Ohio FB

The Southeast Ohio Foodbank, a Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) program, is a dynamic non-profit that works to end hunger in Southeast Ohio. We mobilize food, support, and resources to create a lifeline for people in need and to increase community access to healthy food. We are a distribution center and community hub that collects and distributes government-funded, donated, and purchased food to our member agencies in our 10 county service area. Our network of member agencies operate programs such as food pantries, hot meal sites, shelters, and other hunger-relief programs. Our Regional Kitchen prepares meals for Meals on Wheels, Senior Congregate dining, Head Start meals, and Summer meals. Additionally, we have a team of Community Health Specialists who work on Food is Medicine initiatives: they deliver food boxes and offer wraparound services to individuals in our communities who are pregnant, new parents, or have chronic conditions.

Member Duties : The SE Ohio Foodbank serves a 10-county region totaling 4,000 square miles. This region is home to high poverty and food insecurity rates exacerbated by access barriers such as transportation, limited pantry hours, and a lack of resource consolidation. Our challenge is to reach neighbors where they are by supporting and empowering our member pantries and getting our programs out into the communities. As our VISTA member, you will address community needs around accessibility and economic mobility. You will institute and formalize our workforce development program, conduct community-driven assessments, and develop a volunteer training program. By addressing each of these projects, you will directly impact the most pressing needs of our region. Join our team today to remove access barriers and make a difference for Southeast Ohio households! **Benefits include a monthly $200 housing stipend to supplement living costs.**

Program Benefits : Living Allowance ,  Childcare assistance if eligible ,  $200 housing stipend ,  Health Coverage* ,  Relocation Allowance ,  Training ,  Choice of Education Award or End of Service Stipend .
