2021 Preschool COVID-19 Recovery
 
 
 
This position will begin with an orientation to the preschool, mission, philosophy, and curriculum as well as required health and safety trainings per Alaska State Childcare Licensing. The member will be asked to reflect on the environment of the preschool, and children and develop ideas for how to serve them in partnership with the staff at the school. Using these reflections, and the skills unique to the member, the member will become an integral team member. The AmeriCorps member serving in 3 to 5 Preschool will be embedded within the preschool in a way that is unique and provides a nurturing role model for developing preschoolers that affects their lives in a meaningful way. Role model positive behavior and support social emotional learning through the school’s positive behavior support system. Collaboratively create fun innovative and engaging developmentally appropriate lesson plans that reflect 3 to 5 Preschool’s curriculum and themes. Attend all meetings, trainings and events as requested including but not limited to, fundraisers, end of the year picnic, open house, registration Communicate with parents and staff in a friendly and effective manner. Identify opportunities and/or problems in the classroom and resolving them in cooperation with the staff Maintain confidentiality Be responsible for accomplishing all routine tasks regarding health and safety of children and maintenance of the program in accordance with local and state regulations Prevent exposure of children to high risk situations, including exposure to physical hazards and encounters with individuals or animals posing possible danger Serve as part of a team Participate in staff planning meetings weekly. Work with staff as part of an instructional team supporting student progress in large and small group settings, and 1-1.

Member Duties : The position of COVID-19 Preschool Relief position facilitates planning, organizing, and working collaboratively to deliver safe and enriching programming for early childhood success, as well as providing mental and emotional health support for students who have experienced trauma associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Working in a team setting, this position requires building positive relationships with students, families, and staff. These relationships are the basis with which to facilitate enrichment opportunities for students.
