AFVN Ringling College AmeriCorps VISTA Lazarus Program Coor.
 
 
 
The VISTA member will work with the Lazarus Assistantship Program (LAP) to support, engage & build capacity for students' service in the local community through the intensive 4 year service program. The Lazarus Assistantship Program is an immersive 4 year program that addresses issues in Sarasota and Manatee counties related to poverty including but not limited to: hunger, nutrition, literacy, homelessness, housing, children & youth and education. The goal being the development of a creative and sustainable solution for a community challenge or initiative that addresses an above poverty issue. The Volunteerism Summer & Academic Year Art Programs boost accessibility at Title I schools & prevents "summer slide". This program operates in various capacities during the school year and specifically in hosting the summer camp supported by Ringling student volunteers.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will evaluate and develop Lazarus Engaged Learning Assistantship trainings and partnership procedures for Lazarus students. The VISTA member will also serve to increase Lazarus student exposure to local non-profits and local challenges and issues through Saturday Days of Service. In addition, the member will develop a system of documentation and assessment for the Lazarus program's core values and goals, the students' development, and the impact on the local community. The member will develop and sustain mutually beneficial campus-community partnerships between RCAD and local Title I schools and organizations that serve students from Title 1 schools in Sarasota County, by facilitating Summer and Academic Year Programming that responds to their needs and expands their reach and potential impact through capacity building initiatives.
