Center Against Sexual & Family Violence Community Relations

Today, we are the largest dual-service (sexual assault & family violence) agency along the entire U.S./Mexico Border serving over 3,500 victims of sexual and family violence every year. Each year the emergency shelter houses nearly 900 people of which 60% are children. The Center Against Sexual & Family Violence (CASFV) not only meets the challenges of domestic violence, but also has grown as a place where families can "learn to live again" and function as a healthy family unit. The goal of the VISTA project is to ensure that the Center Against Sexual & Family Violence can lift the local community of domestic violence and sexual assault survivors out of poverty and to increase the marketing and volunteer capacity of CASFV. The Center combats domestic violence and sexual assault in all its forms as an advocate for safety and justice through intervention, education and community collaboration. The VISTA will help create a marketing plan, recruit hospital accompaniment volunteers, develop marketing materials, conduct research, produce a volunteer manual and develop strategies for community outreach at CASFV. With support of board, staff and volunteers, this VISTA will work together to create and implement new marketing and volunteer recruitment efforts to enhance the nonprofit’s ability to achieve our mission.
