VISTA Affordable Housing Preservation Project (VAHPP)
 
 
 
The VISTA Affordable Housing Preservation Project (VAHPP) supports tenant organizing and efforts towards the elimination of poverty throughout our communities. The program aims to create and/or strengthen tenant organizations at Certain HUD Project Based Section-8 properties. VISTAs are located in cities throughout the US and provide tenant associations with capacity building services. Members are trained to support the needs of tenants by providing information to assist with housing preservation concerns as we lift families out of poverty. VISTA members facilitate tenant meetings and provide information about tenant rights, responsibilities, and housing options in eligible Project Based Section-8 properties. Project sites currently recruiting for a 10/25/21 start date are located in: Atlanta, GA; Detroit, MI; Durham, NC; Chicago, IL; Spokane, WA; Cincinnati, OH; Birmingham, AL

Member Duties : As a VAHPP member you will gain a deep understanding of HUD-supported housing in your local community, inform tenants of their rights, and help organize and train effective tenant associations. Your work will be critical to preserving and improving quality affordable housing. You will forge and strengthen local partnerships to support tenants and help build strong and lasting tenant leadership and capacity. Your day to day work will consist of tenant outreach and training. VAHPP host sites are located in cities across the US and represent a wide array of geographies and locales.
