CCH Balance of State Continuum of Care VISTA

The Colorado Balance of State Continuum of Care (BoS CoC) is one of four regional planning bodies in Colorado that coordinates HUD housing and services funding for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The CO BoS CoC is focused on addressing homelessness across 54 rural and frontier counties in Colorado. The BoS CoC works closely with stakeholders from across 10 regions to support planning and the implementation of a broad continuum of strategies from homeless prevention to supportive housing that help ensure that everyone has a safe, stable, and affordable place to live. This VISTA position will work with a diverse group of community partners to expand and develop funding opportunities, strengthen statewide data systems, support regional coordinated entry systems, and increase capacity amongst the BoS CoC. A recent report from the University of PA, the University of California LA, and Bos University showed that persons experiencing homelessness infected with COVID-19 are twice as likely to be hospitalized, two to four times as likely to require critical care, and two to three times as likely to die from the illness as the general population. To further housing efforts, the VISTA position will also support the work of communities responding to COVID-19 and advance approaches that reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection and outbreaks amongst those experiencing homelessness to accelerate the housing process. The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless (CCH) serves as the Collaborative Applicant for the BoS CoC. CCH is located in Denver, CO and will serve as the host site. CCH is a national leader in providing integrated housing, health care, vocational and supportive services, creating lasting solutions to homelessness. The VISTA will work collaboratively with CCH’s Rural Initiatives (RI) team, alongside the BoS CoC Coordinator and the RI Program Manager to achieve objectives.
