AmeriCorps Men's Engagement Specialist at WCA
 
 
 
The WCA is the designated direct service provider for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Douglas County. We are dedicated to helping clients stay safe and grow strong by addressing both their immediate safety needs and their long-term self-sufficiency. For more than a century, the WCA has led Omaha in serving the critical needs of domestic violence and sexual assault victims. The WCA’s multi-faceted approach provides vital services including, but not limited to, the Omaha Metropolitan area’s domestic violence and sexual assault crisis hotline, advocacy, individualized case management, pro bono legal services, therapy, peer-led support groups, self sufficiency and career programs. The WCA is and will continue to be a premiere organization empowering and advocating for the social and economic justice of victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and their children. The WCA is committed to the prevention and elimination of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Member Duties : The WCA is seeking an AmeriCorps Men’s Engagement Specialist. Responsibilities include engaging young men in preventing violence and doing outreach to men who have already offended. Interested applicants must possess strong relationship-building skills, public speaking skills and group facilitation skills. The AmeriCorps Men’s Engagement Specialist position offers opportunities to gain valuable experience and participate in issues of great public importance. • Research, select & implement programming to engage men in violence prevention. • Conduct assessments and intakes with potential participants and schedule participants for class. • Assist with other prevention programming and activities related to engaging men. • Research & develop plan for engaging young men who have committed domestic violence or sexual assault outside of court-ordered • Create new & strengthen existing partnerships with juvenile court and juvenile probation officers, as well as youth-serving organizations.
