PAARI National Recovery Corps - Waterville, ME

The Police Assisted Addiction and Recovery Initiative (PAARI) was founded alongside the Gloucester Police Department Angel Initiative in June 2015 and has grown into a movement of approximately 700 law enforcement partners in 34 states, all implementing a non arrest pathway to treatment and access. Law enforcement officers have a front row seat to the opioid epidemic and a growing number of police departments are motivated to adopt non-arrest programs that connect individuals with substance use disorders to treatment. Members of our National Recovery Corps will strengthen the ability to partner with law enforcement agencies to increase access to care and address addiction and poverty through non-arrest approaches. The VISTA will be a Program Development VISTA that plays a vital role in the Waterville Police Department’s efforts to combat opioid addiction and support individuals in their recovery journey. This position primarily focuses on volunteer recruitment and management, as well as assisting in expanding our program related to opioid addiction recovery. The Program Development will work closely with other team members to engage the community, raise awareness, and ensure the success and growth of our initiatives. Duties will include collaborating with other team members to identify program expansion opportunities. Conduct research and gather relevant information on best practices, innovative approaches, and emerging trends in the field. Assist in developing new program initiatives, including planning, resource allocation, and implementation. Individuals with lived experience with addictions, including those who are personally in recovery, are encouraged to apply. During your service, you will receive a living allowance from CNCS and at the conclusion of a successful service year you will be eligible for an education award of $6,495 or a cash stipend of $1,800 *If interested in starting before the start date please let us know
