Nuestra Comunidad - Supportive Services Coordinator VISTA

Nuestra Comunidad has served the Roxbury community for over 35 years with a legacy of excellence and innovation in community development. We’ve built over 800 apartments affordable to working families, and built and sold nearly 200 homes that have created wealth and neighborhood stability. We work to close Boston’s racial wealth gap by creating homes that families of all incomes can afford; catalyzing entrepreneurship among people of color; and creating jobs. Nuestra is looking for a talented AmeriCorps VISTA member to join the organization as a Supportive Services Coordinator. This is an opportunity to join a well-established, community-based development corporation seeking to engage formerly homeless families and individuals in need of supportive services in a new program designed to successfully sustain their housing. The member needs to work professionally with co-workers in our resident services department and medical and housing assistance partners. In addition to a passion for ending homelessness through stable housing, the member also needs good time management skills, the ability to work independently, data management skills and strong writing, visual communications and editing skills. AmeriCorps VISATA is a full-time commitment for one year, and this is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to serve at an established nonprofit in a neighborhood that is at the forefront of Boston’s movements for affordable housing, economic opportunity and racial justice.

Member Duties : As an AmeriCorps VISTA and Supportive Services Coordinator at Nuestra Comunidad Development Corporation, you will be a creator and problem-solver, adding both short- and long-term capacity to Nuestra’s resident services team. During your service year with Nuestra, you will facilitate a new supportive services team; help identify needs of formerly homeless households and seniors in our properties; develop services plans based on those needs; identify effective onboarding and stabilization procedures for new tenants coming from shelters; and manage a Salesforce system tracking and evaluating supportive service delivery and impacts. Other major activities for your service year will include planning community events that build relationships among tenants and with the broader community.
