Project Kaulike - Part-Time Legal Aid Society of HI
 
 
 
AmeriCorps Members serve as navigators to the civil justice system. The members assists unrepresented individuals at the courthouse based Self-Help (“Access to Justice”) Center and at the Legal Aid office. Members learn about the court system while working alongside volunteer private attorneys and Legal Aid attorneys to serve the community. Duties and Responsibilities Include: • Members will assist in staffing the courthouse based Self-Help Center. • Assist self-help center customers in completing intake forms and surveys. • Provide legal information and assist with preparation of court documents under supervision of volunteer attorney. • Recruit and monitor scheduling of volunteer attorneys. • Complete monthly self-help center reports. • Development and revision of self-help legal materials, including legal materials on Legal Aid’s web site. • Participate in outreach activities. • Attend meetings and trainings as assigned and as required by HICNCS. • Provide Brief Legal Services under supervision of license attorney - Maintain monthly timesheets as outlined in AmeriCorps agreement. • Refrain from participation in activities prohibited by AmeriCorps regulations and provisions.
