Safe Routes to Health - Beaumont Healthy Communities
The Safe Routes to Health (SRTH) program focuses on connecting residents in underserved areas to resources that address healthy habits to help residents thrive. Members will serve as Community Liaison Coordinators that will increase the capacity for health education and community outreach within their host site. Members will commit their time to promote healthy futures: they will fill gaps and enhance assets in underserved, low-income communities to help residents gain access to supportive environments for healthy eating and physical activity. Each member is assigned a site supervisor who provides mentorship, supervision, and access to professional development opportunities at the host site. Members also participate in ongoing professional development, team-building, and at least two outside/group service activities with the SRTH statewide team. Members will receive training in a variety of areas to support service projects, gain valuable skills, and real-world experience. SRTH members serve 900 hours over 8-11 months, averaging 20 hours a week. We have three start dates: 1 [October 4, 2021-August 31, 2022], 2 [November 1, 2021–September 30, 2022], and 3 [January 18–September 30, 2022]. Current Beaumont service locations: Dearborn, Farmington Hills, Royal Oak, Westland, Wayne, Harper Woods/Grosse Pointe, Taylor, Troy/Sterling Heights. Some larger team meetings would take place at the Southfield office. TO APPLY: please complete the member application linked here and email your resume and cover letter to the Program Director listed. Please indicate your top 3 regions you would prefer in your cover letter. NOTE: Service activities may be partially or fully remote during the COVID-19 pandemic, this is subject to change as new guidance is issued.
